It is the New Year and I am sure you had a very festive time over December holidays. If you managed to keep your weight down, then I applaud you for a near impossible feat. For the rest of you who went for second helpings, forgot to train and currently feel like the Michelin man, listen up…
I have the hottest book review that guarantees to shed the weight off and keep it off.
Remember that tall looking fellow that said you need to carbo load before big races and that carbs are good. Only to change his mind and now say he was wrong and that excessive carbs is not only an epidemic, but a huge factor in why people have so many health problems in today’s day and age.
Please give a burning torch and pitch fork ovation to Professor Timothy Noakes. Before you run down the castle gates, you need to open your eyes, take off the blinkers and listen to his message.
In sport and business you make decisions based on the most accurate and current knowledge you have to making the right choices in progressing through the ranks of success. At that point in time you train the way you know best and use the data from the actuaries to steer your company.
What happens 5 years down the line when you figure out that the reason for your small progress was that the data your received back then was too premature to make such bold decisions?
Years later the bubble has bursts and new data paints a clearer Picasso. What will you do you as an athlete or a CEO? Give up and pack it in? Of course not, you will pivot and reposition your training and business to the new enlightened methodologies. If you are stubborn and continue to deny the truth, then you are a fool an ultimately will pay the price.
In Noakes’ New Book, The Real Meal Revolution a foreword is given by the legendary Gary Player, and also happens to be sold out across the country for 3 weeks now, sigh! Noakes gives you the road map on how to take charge of your life and health. The talk is over and the health revolution has started. What I like most about the book is that it takes you on a journey of discovery.
As a Sports Scientist myself and someone who is never scared to learn something new, I found the layout ingenious. The first part of the book Noakes explains the most recent research available to human kind and why all evidence is pointing to that high carbs are bad and could possibly be the causes to your high blood pressure, your digestive disorders, your predisposition to diabetes and your insulin resistance.
The book is not only for people that are overweight but people that are pregnant, have allergies, cancer and even menopause. The mere fact that your Mrs has tendencies to go crazy round about that time of month is good enough reason to try out the new lifestyle.
The Meal Revolution gives you a green, orange and red coloured coded table of food you can eat from and food you should really try avoid. Noakes outdid himself when assembling as he calls it, the “crack squad” A nutritionist Sally-Ann Creed, and two chefs Jonno Proudfoot and David Grier.
I don’t know if they used some sort of glossy high resolution paper to print on, but the meals look so good, you are even tempted to eat the page. Thankfully for my fiancé’s willingness to also try new things, she has started cooking all our meals the LCHF (low carb high fat) way and I will be honest and say since I am a fussy eater, they taste as good as they look.
Having time to reflect this week, I have not had much time to eat my regular 6 small meals a day since I am back at ASP, expanding the business, training up new staff, meeting with all my loyal clients and setting up meetings with new potential athletes. To put it mildly it has been exciting but manic.
One thing that stands is that I have not been as hungry as I would normally be in the past. I don’t get these fits of hungry that I could eat anything in site, I have more energy and I seem to be recovering from my own sport training faster. It is still early days and thus this chapter of my self-discovery is still open and I will pass no verdict other than, I am really excited to be on this journey.
No food has stimulated my brain and my body in the way the meal revolution has. If you start understanding what the deep routed cause of your aliments are and stop masking them by medicating, then you will soon realize there is hope. You have absolutely nothing to lose by trying something new, who knows, it just might save your life.
I was lucky enough in purchasing the last 2 copies and it just so happens to be signed by all 4 authors. If you would want to win a copy of The Real Meal Revolution then tweet me @SeanVStaden why you should win this book and place a #LCHF in the tweet.
